Disney-themed digital signage alleviates children’s conditions in Orlando hospital

Digital signage helps the children get well at the Florida Hospital for Children’s Walt Disney Pavilion by creating a stress-free and a child-friendly environment through its Disney-themed gazebo.

The area was installed with 30 high-definition digital signage players to display relaxing nature footages similar to the popular Disney movies like “The Lion King”, “The Jungle Book”, and “The Little Mermaid”. It also features grassland, forest and underwater themes in each floor with 10 LCD screens in its corridors.

“The themed displays have proven to be a very popular attraction. The nature content provides a welcome distraction for families placed in a very stressful, and often painful, situation,” Tim Burrill said, Florida Hospital for Children’s vice president of construction.

“It is gratifying to see them walk down the halls and be calmed by the atmosphere we have created.”

The HD digital signage players, supplied by Gefen LLC, reads and plays several audio and video formats and supports all standard connections. It also has a ministereo analog output feature if ever the sounds needs to be connected to an external device like speakers or headset.

The Gefen DSP Server Pro software suite which powers the players, has all the means necessary to create and manage scheduled content. Good thing is, the content itself can be organized and updated using an ordinary USB device since the hospital doesn’t utilize any servers to run the players.
